Common questions
- Why replace both springs when only one broke?
- Springs are installed as a pair and wear at the same rate. Replacing one leaves a worn spring pulling against a new one, which unbalances the door and usually means a second call within a year.
- Can I open the door until you arrive?
- Please do not. With a broken spring the door is 150 to 200 lbs of dead weight with nothing holding it up.
- How long do springs last?
- A standard spring is rated around 10,000 cycles, which is roughly five to seven years for a typical household. High-cycle springs run 20,000 or more.
