Garage door opener repair and installation
An opener that hums without moving, reverses halfway, or does nothing at all is usually one of three things: a stripped drive gear, misaligned safety sensors, or a failed logic board. Two of those are inexpensive. One of them you can often fix yourself, and we will say so.

Common questions
- My opener light blinks and the door reverses. Is that broken?
- Almost always not. That pattern means the two safety sensors near the floor are misaligned. Wipe both lenses and nudge them until each shows a steady light. That fixes it most of the time at no cost.
- Is it worth repairing an old opener?
- Under about ten years old, usually yes. Past that, parts availability and the lack of modern safety features often make replacement the better value.
- Which opener is quietest?
- A belt drive. Worth it if there is a bedroom or living space directly above or beside the garage.
